Today, Tuesday 28 July 2026, Spain is set to experience high temperatures, according to AEMET’s weather forecast. Furthermore, conditions will remain generally stable under the influence of high pressure, with partly cloudy or clear skies and no rainfall. Only in the north of the Canary Islands, the Strait of Gibraltar, Melilla and parts of the Cantabrian coast and Galicia will there be intervals of low cloud in the morning, with possible scattered patches of fog and a general tendency for the skies to clear, although along the Galician coast cloud cover could increase throughout the day, leading to coastal mist.
Dust haze is likely to move in from the south of the mainland.
Temperatures will rise across most of the mainland, with maximum temperatures rising notably in large parts of the northern third and exceptionally so in the eastern Cantabrian region. A fall in maximum temperatures is expected only in western Galicia. There will be little change in the archipelagos. With these rises, temperatures are forecast to exceed 36 degrees in large areas of the peninsular interior, potentially surpassing 40 degrees in the southern and south-western depressions, and approaching this figure in the Ebro Valley. Tropical nights are forecast, with temperatures not falling below 20 degrees, in the Mediterranean and the south-western quadrant.
A levante wind will blow in the Strait and a trade wind in the Canary Islands, with strong spells and possible very strong gusts. There will be a moderate north-easterly wind along the south-eastern coast of the peninsula and an easterly wind in the Cantabrian Sea and northern Galicia, easing in the latter case. Elsewhere, winds will be light, predominantly from the east and south.
