The Principality of Asturias will return to Fitur to showcase the offer of the paradise at the Fair to be held in Madrid from 24 to 28 January, with a large stand of more than 900 square metres in which the rich landscape of the Natural Paradise and the high-speed railway will be the protagonists, a particularly relevant milestone for the Madrid market, the main target of this tourism event which is among the three most important in the world.
The traditional Asturias Day at Fitur will be held on Friday, 26 January, with the presence of the President, Adrián Barbón.
The Principality will present at the fair the new campaign AVE al Paraíso, to promote the arrival of the high-speed train to the community. The train will occupy a specific and prominent space in the Asturian area, where the public will be able to immortalise their visit in a photocall in the shape of a train carriage and take part in the draw for a trip to Asturias for two people.
A giant screen will welcome visitors with a combination of images that invite them to take advantage of the speed of the high-speed train to make a getaway to a natural paradise.
The overall image of the pavilion is inspired by landscape, ecotourism and rural tourism. The prominence of nature is reflected in a scenographic and hyper-realistic forest, with natural and artificial trees and plants, called the forest of experiences, and an exhibition gallery that takes visitors to Asturias through resources such as the Way of St. James, industrial tourism, gastronomy and, especially, active, rural and ecotourism.
There will also be an exclusive showcase within the pavilion for active and sports tourism, quality brands, such as rural accommodation, manor houses and villages, and cider culture, in support of its candidacy for UNESCO Intangible World Heritage status.
A space open to public-private collaboration
Once again this year, the stand will have a square or area for presentations, measuring more than 200 metres, where town councils and associations will present their new products to the public. So far, more than thirty presentations have already been closed during the three days of the fair for the professional public.
The municipalities will also be present at the two general tourist information desks, which will be staffed by 14 information officers delegated by the local councils, with reinforcements from the regional government.
The councils of Oviedo, Gijón and Avilés will have a joint counter labelled with the Asturias Meeting Land brand, which will have its own informants and supports specifically designed for the promotion of urban tourism and the attraction of meetings, congresses and incentive trips. In this space, the Principality will promote the city of Oviedo/Uviéu as the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy.
In addition, the Terrace of Paradise area will allow the business community to establish business contacts with professionals from the sector.
This edition of Fitur will also see the collaboration of the protected designations of origin (PDO) Cider of Asturias, Cangas Wine, Cabrales Cheese and Casín Cheese, and the protected geographical indications Asturian Veal and Asturian Honey to offer tastings during the weekend, when the fair is open to the general public.
