Tel Aviv (dpa) – Israel’s current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called on legislators to oppose the new designated government under Naftali Bennett.
Netanyahu took to Twitter to sharply criticize his designated successor Bennett of the ultra-right Yamina party.
«All Knesset members elected with right-wing votes must oppose this dangerous left-wing government,» Netanyahu wrote.
«Bennet has sold the Negev to Ra’am,» he added, referring to the Arab party Ra’am which is to enter the coalition government for the first time, as well as the Negev desert in the south of the country.
The coalition agreement reportedly includes a clause on halting the destruction of illegal buildings in the Negev desert, which concerns especially Bedouin villages.
The future government of Bennett and his coalition partners still has to be approved by a simple majority in parliament.
