Pero son sus caracter\u00edsticas electr\u00f3nicas intr\u00ednsecas las que determinan cu\u00e1l de estos puntos ser\u00e1 el reactivo y, por tanto, en qu\u00e9 direcci\u00f3n se producir\u00e1n las reacciones qu\u00edmicas en las que interviene la mol\u00e9cula.<\/p>\n<p>El grupo Frontiers in Catalysis (FRONCAT), que dirige Jos\u00e9 Alem\u00e1n en la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid (UAM), viene trabajando en el desarrollo de nuevos sistemas catal\u00edticos capaces de modificar la reactividad molecular, con el prop\u00f3sito de acceder a mol\u00e9culas org\u00e1nicas dif\u00edciles de obtener por m\u00e9todos convecionales.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Catalizadores bifuncionales<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ahora, a partir de enol \u00e9teres derivados y nitroalquenos, y mediante la utilizaci\u00f3n de catalizadores bifuncionales, el grupo ha logrado sintetizar mol\u00e9culas de inter\u00e9s industrial que hasta la fecha no hab\u00edan sido obtenidas.<\/p>\n<p>Las conclusiones de este trabajo, publicado en el Journal of American Chemical Society, est\u00e1n basadas en distintas pruebas mecan\u00edsticas experimentales y c\u00e1lculos computacionales complejos. \u201cEstos c\u00e1lculos, llevados a cabo por Rub\u00e9n Mas-Ballest\u00e9, del departamento de Qu\u00edmica Inorg\u00e1nica de la UAM. hicieron posible demostrar que la distinta reactividad se debe al efecto que provocan los catalizadores bifuncionales en determinar la orientaci\u00f3n relativa de las mol\u00e9culas que intervienen en la reacci\u00f3n qu\u00edmica\u201d, explica Alem\u00e1n.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>Las nuevas estructuras podr\u00e1n ser utilizadas como bloques de construcci\u00f3n en s\u00edntesis org\u00e1nica para aplicarse en agricultura y farmacia<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cEl uso de anteriores sistemas catal\u00edticos \u2013detalla el investigador\u2013 permit\u00eda activar o bien el reactivo o bien la mol\u00e9cula compleja, dando lugar al mismo tipo de reacci\u00f3n. Sin embargo, la utilizaci\u00f3n de estos nuevos sistemas catal\u00edticos bifuncionales nos permiten aproximar el reactivo a la mol\u00e9cula compleja en una orientaci\u00f3n distinta a la convencional, logrando, con esta estrategia, la obtenci\u00f3n de nuevas mol\u00e9culas\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mejora medioambiental<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>De acuerdo con los autores, estos resultados abren la puerta a un tipo especial de estructuras que podr\u00e1n ser utilizadas como bloques de construcci\u00f3n en s\u00edntesis org\u00e1nica para su aplicaci\u00f3n, por ejemplo, en el campo de la agricultura (fertilizantes y abonos) o en el \u00e1mbito farmac\u00e9utico con actividad biol\u00f3gica.<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores tambi\u00e9n resaltan la compatibilidad de su trabajo con la qu\u00edmica verde o sostenible. \u201cNuestro grupo de investigaci\u00f3n trabaja en el campo de la organocat\u00e1lisis.
