Estos peque\u00f1os gusanos planos, que habitan en el mar y tambi\u00e9n en agua dulce, son conocidos por su gran capacidad para reconstruir partes de su cuerpo lo que les ha hecho convertirse en un modelo de investigaci\u00f3n en medicina regenerativa humana.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abEl sistema regenerativo de este animal ha intrigado a los cient\u00edficos durante m\u00e1s de 100 a\u00f1os\u00bb, dicen los autores. Los resultados del estudio se publican hoy en el \u00faltimo n\u00famero de la revista PLOS Computational Medicine y suponen el primer modelo integral de la planaria realizado con inteligencia rob\u00f3tica.<\/p>\n<p>Miner\u00eda de datos<\/p>\n<p>Para extraer informaci\u00f3n de la monta\u00f1a de datos experimentales sobre regeneraci\u00f3n y biolog\u00eda del desarrollo de la planaria, Daniel Lobo y Michael Levin, autores del trabajo, desarrollaron un algoritmo evolutivo que produce redes reguladoras capaces de \u2018evolucionar\u2019 y predecir con precisi\u00f3n los resultados de los experimentos de laboratorio publicados. Luego, introdujeron los resultados en una base de datos.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abNuestro objetivo fue identificar una red reguladora que pudiera ser ejecutada en todas las c\u00e9lulas de un gusano virtual para que los resultados de modelado de la cabeza y la cola de los experimentos simulados coincidieran con los datos publicados\u00bb, explica Lobo.<\/p>\n<p>Por su parte, Levin se\u00f1ala que en este proyecto la inteligencia artificial ha servido no solo para analizar grandes cantidades de datos, sino tambi\u00e9n para crear un modelo de c\u00f3mo funciona el sistema de regeneraci\u00f3n de estos gusanos de una manera comprensible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SINC &#8211; Bi\u00f3logos de la Universidad de Tufts, en Boston (EE UU), han llevado a cabo un proceso de ingenier\u00eda inversa para desentra\u00f1ar los misterios de la regeneraci\u00f3n de la planaria.
