Diversas reacciones nucleares responsables de la creaci\u00f3n y destrucci\u00f3n de n\u00facleos at\u00f3micos en la nucleos\u00edntesis durante el Big-Bang (BBN, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) son cruciales para determinar la abundancia primordial del litio, el tercer (y \u00faltimo) elemento qu\u00edmico formado durante la fase muy temprana de evoluci\u00f3n del universo. Los restantes elementos de la naturaleza se formaron mucho m\u00e1s tarde, en las estrellas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Los modelos sobre el Big Bang predicen una abundancia de litio-7 tres o cuatro veces superior al determinado mediante observaciones astron\u00f3micas<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Los modelos est\u00e1ndar de Big Bang que se utilizan en la actualidad predicen una abundancia de Li-7, el principal is\u00f3topo del Litio, que es un factor 3-4 mayor que el luego determinado mediante observaciones astron\u00f3micas. Recientemente se ha investigado en la instalaci\u00f3n n_TOF del CERN la posibilidad de un canal neutr\u00f3nico que podr\u00eda incrementar la tasa de destrucci\u00f3n del is\u00f3topo berilio-7 (Be-7), el precursor del Li-7, y, por tanto, hacer compatibles las abundancias cosmol\u00f3gicas del litio calculadas y observadas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Canal de reacci\u00f3n neutr\u00f3nico<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cPotencialmente, este canal de reacci\u00f3n neutr\u00f3nico podr\u00eda resolver el problema cosmol\u00f3gico del litio, que es uno de los aspectos a\u00fan no resueltos de la descripci\u00f3n est\u00e1ndar actual del Big-Bang\u201d, apunta el catedr\u00e1tico Jos\u00e9 Manuel Quesada de la Universidad de Sevilla.<\/p>\n<p>En la instalaci\u00f3n SINQ del PSI (Villigen, Suiza) se separ\u00f3 el material &#8216;en bruto&#8217; destinado a ser utilizado en el nuevo experimento. El material fue posteriormente enviado a la instalaci\u00f3n de haces radiactivos ISOLDE del CERN para producir un blanco puro con menos de 0,1 miligramos de Be-7, que se envi\u00f3 a continuaci\u00f3n a la instalaci\u00f3n n_TOF para realizar en ella las medidas neutr\u00f3nicas.<\/p>\n<p>Esta ha sido la primera ocasi\u00f3n en que las dos instalaciones del CERN dedicadas a los experimentos de f\u00edsica nuclear han llevado a cabo un experimento conjunto, utilizando el haz de iones radiantivos de ISOLDE para producir el blanco necesario para un experimento en n_TOF mediante la t\u00e9cnica de tiempo de vuelo de los neutrones.<\/p>\n<p>En un experimento previo en n_TOF se hab\u00eda medido la secci\u00f3n eficaz de la reacci\u00f3n berilio-helio (7Be(n,a)4He) en un amplio rango de energ\u00edas, lo cual permiti\u00f3 imponer fuertes restricciones a uno de los mecanismos de destrucci\u00f3n del is\u00f3topo Be-7 durante el Big-Bang. En este experimento, sin embargo, se ha medido la reacci\u00f3n berilio-litio 7Be(n,p)7Li, extendiendo de nuevo datos previos a un mayor rango de energ\u00edas y, por lo tanto, permitiendo una actualizaci\u00f3n de la tasa de reacci\u00f3n usada en los c\u00e1lculos en red est\u00e1ndar del Big Bang.<\/p>\n<p>Los nuevos resultados experimentales, sus interpretaciones te\u00f3ricas e implicacones de estas dos reacciones en el Problema Cosmol\u00f3gico del Litio han sido publicados recientemente en la revista Physical Review Letters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAunque los nuevos datos extraidos de los experimentos en n_TOF permiten establecer una base mucho m\u00e1s firme para los c\u00e1lculos BBN, la conclusi\u00f3n de este trabajo es que los canales neutr\u00f3nicos no bastan para resolver el problema cosmol\u00f3gico del litio. La comunidad cient\u00edfica tiene aqu\u00ed un reto que exigir\u00e1 esfuerzos adicionales para resolver este enigma, que implica los campos de astrof\u00edsica nuclear, observaciones astron\u00f3micas, cosmolog\u00eda no est\u00e1ndar e incluso nueva f\u00edsica m\u00e1s all\u00e1 del modelo eEst\u00e1ndar de f\u00edsica de part\u00edculas\u201d, aseguran los
