El alto contraste logrado entre los dos compartimentos del enc\u00e9falo, as\u00ed como la alta resoluci\u00f3n obtenida (8 micras), superior a la lograda por microresonancia magn\u00e9tica (10 veces menor), permite la segmentaci\u00f3n y posterior reconstrucci\u00f3n en 3D de la sustancia blanca.<\/p>\n<p>Como se explica en el estudio, liderado por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y publicado en la revista Archives Italiennes de Biologie , se abre as\u00ed el camino para cuantificar la sustancia blanca en material post-mortem de cualquier regi\u00f3n del enc\u00e9falo, principalmente de la corteza cerebral y el cerebelo.<\/p>\n<p>Con esta t\u00e9cnica, que usa el dicromato de potasio como agente de contraste, se pueden visualizar tambi\u00e9n otros elementos neuronales y no neuronales del tejido nervioso, como la piamadre (meninge interna que protege el sistema nervioso central) y los vasos sangu\u00edneos, as\u00ed como otras partes anat\u00f3micas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEsta t\u00e9cnica ofrece muchas posibilidades, la hemos aplicado en otros mam\u00edferos como el cerdo, tambi\u00e9n en el estudio anat\u00f3mico de vertebrados como los peces, y en un futuro pr\u00f3ximo
